Who doesn't love a bit of useless trivia, lol. Here are 15 fun Guinness World Record's regarding flowers...



  1. Tallest Sunflower: The tallest sunflower on record stood at 30 feet and 1 inch (9.17 meters). It was grown by Hans-Peter Schiffer in Germany in 2014.

  2. Largest Collection of Rose Varieties: The largest collection of rose varieties in a private garden was recorded in 2009 when H. Peter Kukielski (USA) grew and displayed 8,603 different varieties in his garden.

  3. Largest Bouquet of Flowers: In 2014, a team of florists in India created the largest bouquet of flowers, which contained 508,123 flowers. The bouquet weighed over 4,000 kg.

  4. Longest Garland of Flowers: In 2013, a group of volunteers in Thailand created the world's longest garland of flowers, measuring 2,497.68 meters (over 2.4 kilometers)

  5. Longest Flower Chain: In 2018, a group of volunteers in Poland created the world's longest flower chain, measuring 1,539.49 meters (over 1.5 kilometers). The chain was made using marigold flowers.

  6. Largest Flower Sculpture: In 2016, a massive floral sculpture was created in Dubai, UAE. It featured 5 million flowers and had a surface area of 2,200 square meters, setting the record for the largest flower arrangement or structure.

  7. Most People Planting Flower Bulbs: In 2013, 2,596 participants gathered in the Netherlands to plant flower bulbs simultaneously, setting a record for the most people planting flower bulbs in a single location.

  8. Largest Daffodil Display: The largest display of daffodils was achieved in the UK in 2017 when 634,069 daffodils were used to create a beautiful floral display.

  9. The largest flower petal carpet: 5,360 m² (57,694.33 ft²), and was achieved by the Ministry of Tolerance and Globerz Entertainments (both UAE), in Dubai, UAE on 22 November 2019.42,000 kg (92594.15 lb) imported flowers in seven colours were used to make the flower petal carpet. From young children to grandparents, in small groups assembled and placed the flower petals on to small designs drawn on the ground to form the carpet.

  10. The largest flower carpet: A new Guinness World Records™ record for the longest carpet of flowers was set in in Kaifeng City, Henan Province, China on Tuesday. Measuring 2,011 m (6,597 ft 8 in), the colourful carpet beat the previous record of 1,915.6 m (6,284 ft 9 in) set in Mexico in 2010. This record-setting display of flowers was created by the People's Government of Kaifeng City (China) for the 29th Kaifeng Chrysanthemum Festival, which runs throughout the month. Consisting of 22,110 potted chrysanthemums - a flower for which the city has a long history of cultivating - the carpet measured 1.65 m (5 ft 4.96 in) in width and took 120 people eight days to compose.

  11. The longest flower structure:166.15 m (545 ft 1.3 in) and was achieved by the Organizing Committee of the 10th China Chrysanthemum Exhibition (China) at an event held in Kaifeng City, Henan Province, China, on 18 October 2010. The flower structure was in the shape of a dragon and was covered with 112,800 pots of chrysanthemum flowers, covering an area of 1,450.68 m²(15,614 ft² 142 in²) with a volume of 761.607 m³(26,895.9 ft³).

  12. The largest human flower: consisted of 2,567 people and was achieved by Country Garden Crape Myrtle Real Estate Company Limited (China) at Shaoyang Culture and Art Center in Shaoyang, Hunan, China, on 10 September 2017.

  13. The fastest time to model a balloon flower: 31.35 seconds and was achieved by David Crofts (UK), in London, UK, on 20 March 2012.

  14. The fastest time to sort 30 coloured flowers into vases: 44.92 seconds, and was achieved by Kerry Boyne (UK) on the set of Scrambled! CITV, Bedgbury, UK, on 23 January 2019. The coloured flowers and vases used were green, orange, pink, blue and yellow. The record attempt was filmed as part of a Valentine's day theme episode.

  15. The most consecutive Gold Medals won at Chelsea Flower Show: is 74, and was achieved by Hillier Nurseries (UK), as of May 2019. The 74th Gold was won by 'The Stihl Hillier Garden’, designed by Lilly Gomm (UK).
